Dunlop SP 490 sports a symmetrical tread design that is slightly directional in manner. With one deep centre groove flanked by two other lateral grooves, the tyre is exceptional on the aquaplaning front, evacuating water in the quickest ways possible. The directional, shoulder-drain of the sipes keep the contact area clean, while the longitudinal grooves along the shoulders ensure good wet traction. The tread compound is made with sturdy elements to make sure there is even distribution of pressure on dry pavements.
