As a company, Pneus Online is committed to reducing its own environmental impact. In recent years, we have taken several initiatives in our value chain. Starting in 2024, we now supplement these efforts with a contribution to forest preservation. We believe that the combination of reducing our footprint and helping to strengthen nature's ecosystems is the most consistent and efficient approach possible. Here’s an overview of our current contributions on behalf of the climate.
The most virtuous tyres possible
Our core business is to equip you with tyres. So it's logical to start with the tyre itself: Pneus Online works with collection and recycling organisations in European countries where tyre recovery is mandatory (decree, law, etc.) Tyres are collected and taken to approved facilities, from where they are systematically directed to different channels for new uses: re-use, recycling, or energy recovery. We take action to minimise the risk of tyres in the environment.

Pneus Online goes the extra mile in terms of re-use by including INSA TURBO tyres in its product offering for the European market. This Spanish company specialises in making retreaded tyres, with the aim of limiting unnecessary material waste. Starting with used tyres, it replaces the rubber and rebuilds the original structure. This highly complex and demanding process results in a tyre with exactly the same characteristics as its new counterpart. By offering this product, we aim to provide a sustainable alternative without compromising on quality and safety. » To find out more.
Moreover, we intend to follow the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) as soon as it comes into force. Companies that import products such as soya, cocoa, wood, and natural rubber will have to be able to prove that their products do not come from areas that were deforested after 31 December 2020. Because natural rubber is one of the main raw materials in tyres, Pneus Online, alongside all tyre manufacturers and importers, is committed to making its whole supply chain transparent.
Moderating our digital footprint
The next most obvious thing after tyres: as an e-commerce platform, our core business is digital. The impact of digital activity on the environment has long been ignored and poorly understood, but in fact it is far from negligible. It represents a growing share of the world's greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint, which has inevitably given us pause for thought. The servers used by Pneus Online are now compliant with the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (CNDCP). This consists of a commitment by players in the industry, professional cloud infrastructure service associations, and data centres in Europe to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. It is supported by the European Commission and Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, for the European Green Deal.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact commitment addresses five areas:
- Prove energy efficiency with measurable targets
- Purchase 100% clean (carbon-free) energy
- Save water
- Re-use, repair, and recycle servers
- Find ways to recycle heat

Supporting Reforest’Action
Pneus Online has become aware of a twofold necessity: the need to take action to reduce its CO2 emissions for the sake of protecting natural ecosystems and biodiversity and, in parallel, the need to contribute to strengthening those ecosystems and developing carbon wells. This will provide an extra boost to the fight against climate change. That is why we have signed up to work with Reforest'Action in 2024.
KEY FACTS:
Reforest’Action is a company with a mission to tackle environmental challenges by restoring large-scale terrestrial ecosystems. As a global player in reforestation and agroforestry, Reforest’Action designs and develops projects that are beneficial in many ways to the environment and communities, and monitors them over time.
Since its creation in 2010, Reforest’Action has led more than 1500 projects in 45 countries, mainly thanks to funding from more than 3500 companies.
Our contribution consists of financial support for the planting of 1000 trees in the Netherlands and the Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) of another 1000 trees in Switzerland. ANR projects involve maintenance work on existing forests, where promising young shoots are selected, nurtured, and protected. The aim is to make the forest more diversified and resilient through sustainable forest management methods. This type of project is becoming increasingly widespread in Europe, because it provides the best response to the challenges of forests in temperate zones, which are more affected by forest deterioration than deforestation.
